Celebrity chef Anthony Bourdain‘s new international food market will reportedly be 100,000-square-feet of space inside the SuperPier, at 15th on Manhattan’s West Side taking up almost all of the retail section of the huge space. Bourdain will apparently be neighbors with Google, who are about to sign on 250,000-square-feet space inside. Details about the market have been leaking for months now, most recently with news that inspiration for the feeling of the market was taken from Blade Runner. Bourdain Market, will supposedly include a farmers market, an oyster bar, a rooftop beer garden, a tapas bar, and a bakery, as well as an international array of Singaporean hawker-style food stalls. According to Bourdain, you’ll get:

“…expertly sliced Iberico ham and some Cava or Kuching-style laksa [soup], Chinese lamb noodles, Vietnamese pho or a decent barbecue brisket all in one place.”

Bourdain’s partner Stephen Werther said:

“It is meant to be crowded and chaotic because that’s what hawker centres should be. It should activate all of your senses.”

Sounds like another great place to eat just blocks from my apartment, and a great, new addition to neighborhood already exploding with new ventures.
