Just announced via Twitter, South African comic Trevor Noah will become the new host of The Daily Show, replacing Jon Stewart. Noah just tweeted:
“No-one can replace Jon Stewart. But together with the amazing team at The Daily Show, we will continue to make this the best damn news show!”
Comedy Central says that the switch will occur later this year:
“Noah joined The Daily Show in 2014 as a contributor. He made his U.S. TV debut in 2012 on The Tonight Show and has also appeared on Late Show with David Letterman. He’s not totally a novice at the job, Noah has hosted numerous television shows including his own late night talk show in his native country, Tonight with Trevor Noah.”
…and they left out one other thing. He’s cute!
