An emotional Harry Styles broke down onstage in Jakarta last night, openly crying as shocked fans looked on. Louis, darling Louis, put an arm around him and whispered encouraging things into his ears to get the young hunk back on track.

In a black t-shirt and with his hair up in his trademark man bun, Harry wandered around the stage with his head in his hands and wiping away tears.

Yesterday, of course, the world was SHOCKED SENSELESS when 22-year-old Zayn Malik announced his decision to leave the world’s biggest boyband.
Zayn said in a statement “My life with One Direction has been more than I could ever have imagined. But, after five years, I feel like it is now the right time for me to leave the band. I’d like to apologise to the fans if I’ve let anyone down, but I have to do what feels right in my heart. I am leaving because I want to be a normal 22 year old who is able to relax and have some private time out of the spotlight. I know I have four friends for life in Louis, Liam, Harry and Niall. I know they will continue to be the best band in the world.”
Of course, in recent months, rumors of drugs abuse have dogged the prettiest boy in the world. Remember last November when Zayn was a no-show on the Today show and Matt Lauer all but said Zayn was a junkie? We all saw the writing on the wall then. Couple THAT with Zayn’s recent infidelity (which is difficult for any couple to work through, without the added stress of having a million Zayniacs tweeting about it non-stop) and the fact that – let’s face it – he was always too delicate for that type of all-consuming mega-fame – it was CRUSHING HIM – and suddenly his departure makes more sense.
Can the band survive without him? I don’t know. Did the Spice Girls survive when Ginger left? Did Take That survive when Robbie left? DID THREE’S COMPANY SURVIVE WHEN SSUZANNE SUMMERS LEFT? I don’t know guys. It feels like the beginning of the end to me.
Of course, the band will be on the road as a quartet until a break in their tour in May, but then it’s back to gigging until the end of October. Then we shall see.
