Yes, the Fashion Police are taking a break. E! has said in a statement that the show…

“…is going on hiatus and will return in September. We look forward to taking this opportunity to refresh the show before the next awards season.”

Giuliana Rancic, Brad Goreski, and FP‘s exec producer, Melissa Rivers, will stay on board this ship that’s been taking on water. This announcement comes after Kelly Osbourne‘s and Kathy Griffin‘s very public splits and Kathy’s aversion to FP’s approach of being mean. I have to say, I have not been buying her excuse-for-leaving tour. It “wasn’t what she signed on for”? Really, Queen? Have you seen your own act? Did you ever meet Joan Rivers? The problem was jokes need to be written –and well– and Kathy’s style is just to just talk off the top of her head, which works in conversation and even in concert, but on TV in a discussion format, either comes off lame or bitchy. But not very funny, which is the point of the show. No one is looking for REAL fashion advice.

Network executives have said that they will also be looking to “evolve” their general red-carpet coverage, as well. Bottom-line, Joan INVENTED the Red Carpet diss and it’s seeming like she might have taken it to the grave with her. I say, start fresh or hang up your holsters, style cops. Hey, maybe THAT’S it… you need a name change too.
