It’s safe to say that Paris Fashion Week has finally moved beyond Kim Kardashian‘s new blond dresses –and onto Hedi Slimane’s ode to 70, 80s & 90s alt-rock style icons for Saint Laurent. His leopard capes, polka-dot minidresses, and tight leather skirts immediately brought to mind some touch rocker chicks like Courtney Love, Debbie Harry & The Runaways’ Lita Ford. And to bring the references into present-day, current Saint Laurent campaign star Julia Cumming also walked the runway while music from her band, Sunflower Bean, played. But none of these original looks ever saw the inside of a luxury store, kids. They were, for the most part, cheap, thrift store cobbled-together outfits by girls with REAL style. Even so, I’m sure I’m not the first to say it –this new fall collection rocks, Hedi!
